Elastic Wristband Weaving Workshop

Description

During the Elastic Wristband Weaving Workshop kids can learn how to make a festive wristband, using ordinary elastic bands and wool leftovers.  A wristband in happy colors that feels soft on the skin and is easy to put on because it stretches. We have lots of elastic bands in different sizes and widths that will fit around a child’s wrist.

This summer Pepavana attended a wonderful festival and had the opportunity to learn the weaving skills to a lot of children. Take a peek!

Sustainable playing

We use a simple loom set that the kids can take home afterward. The idea is to practice more at home in their weaving skills. This way we encourage sustainable playing and learning by using stuff that is already around in the house, like wool leftovers and simple elastic bands. You don’t need to buy plastic toys that are expensive too if you can use your imagination and the skills you have learned during this workshop.

Skills we learn:

• Fine motivity
• using a needle and tread properly
• to be precise and patient
• explore your imagination; make your own design

It sounds rather serious, but actually, kids do take it seriously. They are open to learning oldskool skills especially since that is not taught anymore in schools or at home nowadays. And after the hard work, they can take home a super cool bracelet or wristband, to wear or to give.

At Pepavana Workshops everybody can work on his or her level of experience and skills. So it is not a surprise that we love to mix the old and the young. We encourage to look at each other’s work and help each other, it is fun! Naturally, we will tell you all about the Tips & Tricks of weaving with elastic bands during class.

The workshop is suitable for groups of about 10-15 children at a time and will take about 1 – 2 hours. It is not that strict, everybody can finish their work in their own pace.

Order information

For groups bigger than 15 persons they must be split up in smaller groups. Order the number of workshops required, on the menu. The time and date will be in consultation with Pepavana. If you prefer, we can plan the different groups on the same day.

For workshops on location, in or outside, at a festival or otherwise, we offer a Workshop Afternoon. At a workshop afternoon everybody draws up to the table; choose this option at the menu if you want an ongoing workshop on location. The duration of the Workshop Afternoon is 4-6 hours.

After ordering the workshop options on the menu, we will get in touch with you about further details. An invoice will be sent later on with VAT specifications on it.
